Lilium Nobilissimum (Japanese name = Tamoto-yuri)
Only available as a wild plant in Kuchino Island, Tokara Islands. It grows naturally on the precipices in Kuchino Island. The name Tamoto-yuri is derived from the custom of gathering it and carrying it in the "tamoto" (part of the sleeve) of the Japanese Kimono)". (Yuri = lily)
The L.Nobilissimum is designated by Kagoshima prefecture as a protected plant because it is on the verge of extinction. Blooming between the middle and end of July, the cylindrical white blossom blooms upward and gives a strong fragrance.
