September 14, 1999 Expedition office decided to postpone the schedule.

At September 14, Kohno and Expedition Office stuff has been decided the postponed schedule of passing the Houyo Strait. Because weather - wave, visibility and wind - is too bad. So it has been scheduled as 15 but now it dependant on a weather.


September 10, 1999 Started out Tsurumi, arrived at Saganoseki.

7:00 AM.  Kohno left Tsurumi and rowed out to Saeki Bay. He turned North into the Bungo channel with in mind possibly try to reach to the Saganoseki today, if weather permits. The weather report says the weather will turn bad.

Then God was alongside him. The weather never turned too bad and he made Shiraki beach, Saganoseki at 3:00 P.M.  Saganoseki is the place from which they start passage through Houyo Strait.

Kohno stayed overnight in a camping tent again in the rain. He will stay in Saganoseki until his starting out for Houyo Strait. He won't just be taking a  day off but will be gathering the information and make communicating with the people in Ohita.


September 9, 1999 Started out from Shimaura, arrived at Tsurumi.

Kohno started from the Shimaura fishing port, Shimaurashima, Nobeoka at 7:10 AM    Then he continued alone toward the North along the coat of the Nippoh National Park. He arrived at Shimokaziyori, Tsurumi, Minamikaifugun, Ohita at 3:10 PM. He stayed overnight in a camping tent.


September 8, 1999 Started out from Tsuno, arrived at Shimaura.

Kohno started alone from a fishing port in Shimohama, Tsuno-town at 7:05 AM. Today his entire voyage was solo. At 4 o'clock in the  afternoon, he arrived at Shimaura fishing port, Shimaurashima, Nobeoka-city, Miyazaki. He camped again overnight.


September 7, 1999 Started out from Miyazaki, arrived at Tsuno.

Kohno started Miyazaki Fishing Port at 7:05 AM.  Kohno met with Mr. Hidaka, a member of the "Sea Lion" Sea Kayak Club in the ocean nearby Takanabe-town. Mr. Hidaka was searching for Kohno, rowing south, down from Tsuno-town. He accompanied Kohno until this day's landing in the  Fishing Port in Tsuno-town.

Kohno stays camps over the night in Tsuno-town's Fishing Port.
