RAAM1996
- Day 6 -

This race never stops, night or day. Sleeping means losing their position. At day 6, the fastest rider runs 386 miles/day. Sakurai runs 304 miles/day. Progress depends on many small reasons, not just the speed. 48 hours behind the first place finisher is the official time limit for contestants to finish. So, Sakurai only sleeps a couple of hours per day but it's samefor all riders. Today is mid-point in time: Halfway between Start and Finish. Sakurai kicking his pedal.(above, DC-2)

The pace car carries a bright lamp for the rider. In the dark, road line is illuminated to look like a tight rope (right, DC-1).
